Catch Mark Bleakley’s amazing work of dance and live performance art, A Nude Descends into a Lump, at The Collective this summer. His strange and innovative practice explores the body as a site for analysis and reflection, which frequently manifests as live performance and video. A Nude Descends into a Lump has been developed by Mark as part of Satellites Programme 2016 and looks at the relationship between bodies, the cinematic and sculptural form.

Using the gallery as a site for performance, four dancers (Philip McDonald, Mark Bleakley, Katie Miller and Carolina Ravaioli) create an intimate and cyclical dance built from a simple score devised by the artist. Through a series of repeated actions, gestures and movements, the body will be considered in relation to traditional sculptural processes and the break down of physical forms over time. A Nude Descends into a Lump also includes an audio work featuring spoken actions that invite visitors to imagine performances taking place in the park surrounding Collective.

A Nude Descends into a Lump, The Collective, City Observatory & City Dome 38, Calton Hill, Edinburgh EH7 5AA, Friday 6 May, 7pm, Tuesday 17 May, 1pm, Saturday 28 May, 1pm, Thursday 2 June, 1pm click here for more information and tickets.
