Flossy and Boo present: The Motley Technique Creative Workshops. The Motley Technique is an approach to devised theatre created by Flossy and Boo involving elements of Clowning, Music, Physical Theatre, Storytelling and Audience Interaction.

Within this workshop you can come and play around with form and content and start to create your own piece of theatre using The Motley Technique. Develop as an artist, gain confidence and simply find your feet in a new way of working.

With over ten years of combined experience Flossy and Boo will guide you gently through their style in a supportive and silly environment.

Sounds great but how do I know that the Motley Technique is for me?

Do you have a sense of curiosity? Do you like to play? Have you always thought you see the world slightly differently? Do you find something interesting in every day things? Does making a piece of theatre intrigue you? Are you interested in new styles of performance? Would you like to find more confidence within your work? Are you new to the industry? Are you trying out something different? Do you like questioning things?If you have answered yes to even one of those questions then this workshop is certainly for you, come and play – it is amazing to see what you can make.

Flossy and Boo Motley Technique Creative Workshops / What to expect:Day One: Tuesday 29th March, 1-3pm Creating Character Working with physical theatre, clowning and multi-rolling to create and develop interesting and ‘larger than life characters’. Join us and discover how some of the curious characters that inhabit Flossy and Boo’s world were created. Using physical Theatre, Clowning and multi-rolling, explore the creation and development of fun, larger than life characters.

Day Two: Wednesday 30th March, 1-3pm Using “Things” Exploring the possibilities of props and objects through object manipulation, play and creating something original.Remember when a cardboard box could be a plane/car/fort or TV? Come and re-discover the joy of finding magic in ordinary objects. Using object manipulation and puppetry we will use everyday items to create characters, props and music.

Day Three: Thursday 31st March, 1-3pm Other People Using a mixture of Street Theatre Technique and the art of the unexpected Using Cabaret and Street Theatre techniques, we will look into how you can use your fellow performers and the audience to find the fun in the unexpected moments of live theatre. We delve into the wonderfully curious world of audience interaction and owning the moments that don’t quite go to plan…

Day Four: Friday 1st April, 1-3pm Telling Tales Dive into stories and adventures, and all the different ways we can present them through the magical art of Theatre. For those that have joined earlier in the week, this will be where all our Motley Skills culminate as we experiment with different styles of storytelling in Theatre.For those who are wanting to drop on by this is where you can play with characters, props and music and find the joy of storytelling.
