‘Beware, my lord, of jealousy: It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock the meat it feeds on’
You might have heard of this before. The Moorish warrior called away from his lover (Desdemona) to defend Cyprus when who falls into a trap set by his jealous, vengeful underling (Iago). It’s classic Shakespeare.
The role of Othello is an iconic one and to celebrate the 400th anniversary of his death, the Abbey Theatre is proud to announce its extended run directed by Joe Dowling with Peter Macon in the titular role. There will be matinees at 3pm and evening shows at 7.30pm.
This is one of the greatest plays ever written; a play of love, jealousy, betrayal and revenge.
Abbey Theatre, 26/27 Abbey Street Lower, Dublin 1, May 5th to June 11th.
