At the beginning of April Leeds Print Festival be returning for it’s fifth year running for a week long celebration of traditional and contemporary print processes. There will be a wide reaching programme of exhibitions, talks, workshops and performances all in the name of print and it’s cultural importance.
Prepare to get creative and be inspired by a fantastically varied programme of events. Kicking off the proceedings will be the opening night celebration on the 1st of April followed by a print exhibition on the 2nd featuring regional, national and international artists which will run for the entirety of the festival.
On the 3rd of April Colours May Vary will be hosting 3rd Year Graphic Design Students who will be creating a contemporary archive exploring print processes and on the 4th there will be a print fair which is your opportunity to to talk to some of the artists and purchase some fantastic prints.
There will be a film screening of Little Reliance Cinema presents Something in the Air on the 5th April which will provide political context to graphic design and the screen printing process. Tickets for this are available for £5 and you can learn more about Little Reliance Cinema here.
The 6th of April will be your chance to get creative as print duo Equip will be hosting a print workshop which has been advertised as friendly to all abilities including first time print makers, tickets for this will be £17.55.
Finally, closing the festival on the 7th will be a series of talks from speakers Alan Kitching, Ian Anderson and Danny Leigh, all of whom are creatives that work with and love print.
Of course you don’t have to attend every event but this is a great chance to indulge your creative side and learn more about print as well as getting involved and exploring your own printing talents.
